The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), has given approval to the proposed merger of Bharti Airtel with Telenor India.
The scheme was approved by the bench with certain conditions. Both companies had signed the agreement for merger on February 2017, where Airtel will acquire Telenor India’s running operations in 7 circles: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP(East) (West) and Assam.
The proposed acquisition has received clearances by Competition Commission of India (CCI), Sebi, BSE and NSE and is waiting for the approval from the telecom department. Further, under the deal there will be transfer of all of Telenor India’s assets and customers and is aimed at increasing Airtel’s overall customer base and network.
