Mahanagar Telephone Limited (MTNL) reported their quarterly financial report with a net loss amounting to Rs. 943 crores during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2019. The company posted a 34 % rise in loss percent as a loss for the first quarter of previous fiscal year stood at Rs. 703 crores according to the regulatory filings.
The state-owned telephone company that used to be a household name during the 1990’s and early 2000’s have come under tremendous pressure due to their constant plummeting revenue with intensified competition in mobile and landline services.
The public sector undertaking (PSU) which operate in service areas of Delhi and Mumbai reported the total revenue from operations at Rs. 492.3 crores posting a 25% decrease from Rs. 657.2 crores earned during the June-end quarter of 2018.
