On Wednesday, telecom shares seem to trade with gains in afternoon period; were shares of Sterlite Technologies up by 2.69 per cent, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam up by 8.97 per cent and GTPL Hathway was up by 2.69 per cent.
Along with above, there were others which traded in the green. They were: Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) up by 1.43 per cent, Tejas Networks up by 2.58 per cent, Aksh Optifibre up by 1.01 per cent and GTL Infrastructure up by 1.35 per cent.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading flat at 993.48 around 11:46 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 15.05 points at 11,811.50 while the BSE Sensex was up 52.96 points at 39,487.90.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading with the gain, while 19 were with the flat.
