Kia Motors has appointed Kookhyun Shim as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of India operations.
He will be responsible for expanding the company in the Indian market and also look after the company’s first manufacturing facility, which is to set up in Andhra Pradesh. He has also announced to invest USD 1.1 billion for the plant.
As per, Han-Woo Park, Kia Motors Corporation President, “We recognize India as a major market with huge potential for our world-class cars. We are confident that Shim’s leadership will provide the direction we need to grow our presence in what is one of the world’s biggest new car markets.”
Furthermore, it is estimated that the company will start its production in India in the second half of 2019 and the local sales of cars produced at the new facility will commence towards the end of 2019.
