The largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp Ltd will spend Rs 10,000 crore during the next five to seven-year to develop sustainable mobility solutions. The company will develop electric vehicles and collaborate with startups to create an enabling ecosystem to reduce pollution in cities and crude oil import. Hero’s main rivals Bajaj Auto Ltd and TVS Motor Company Ltd have already launched their respective electric scooters Chetak and Iqube in certain parts of India.
Hero MotoCorp’s vision is to be at the centre of future mobility innovation and it is imperative that it continues to innovate and collaborate in the sphere of mobility, according to Pawan Munjal, chairman and managing director.
‘Since April 2011, we have invested $600 million in research and development and have spent billion dollars in setting up new manufacturing facilities. Over the next five to seven years Rs 10000 crore in the research of alternative solutions in mobility and brand building. We also aim to be carbon neutral by 2030,’ added Munjal. The hero has launched the new variants of its executive segment motorcycles Passion Pro and Glamour with Bharat Stage VI emission norm-compliant engines.
Glamour will be available in the price range of Rs 68,900-72,400, while Passion Pro will cost between Rs 64,990 and Rs 67,190. The company also unveiled its premium offering Xtreme 160, which will be launched by March.
