The Goods & Services Tax (GST) Council’s 23rd meeting, has began today in Guwahati. It is expected that the council will slash rates on nearly 150-200 items in its two day’s meet.
The council will also take the issue of GSTN to make filing process easier for traders. It will also consider reducing items in the 28% slab and lower rates for daily use items, plastic products and hand made furniture.
Further, the Council can shift as many as 165 items to 18% slab from current 28%, leaving only 62 items under the highest slab of 28%. Certain items which are currently under the 18% slab can be moved to 12% slab.
Moreover, the council can also discuss about the inclusion of real estate under GST and discuss new measures to boost digital payments in the country.
