The government has denied to extend the tenure of SAIL (Steel Authority of India) Chairman C S Verma till his superannuation.

In June 2010, Verma was appointed as SAIL Chairman and Managing Director by the previous UPA government but was eligible for an extension till he attained the superannuation age of 60 years in September 2019.

The Steel Secretary Rakesh Singh has given the charge of SAIL Chairman for three months as Verma’s tenure ended today and the Steel Ministry has not moved the papers for his extension.
