The Finance Ministry with a view to increase domestic manufacturing, has increased customs duty on certain electronic items including television, mobile phone, projector and water heater.

According to a government notification, television sets now attracts  a custom duty of 15%, which has been increased from 10%. The duty on monitors and projectors has been doubled to 20%.

Further, the push button telephone or mobile phones has also been increased to 15% from nil, whereas water heater and hair dressing instrument’s duty has increased to 20%.
