Google has announced that it will be charging no fees for the sellers to list products on Google Shopping. It will provide a commission-free marketplace where sellers ranging from small retailers to big businesses can sell their products.
Google is eliminating commissions which mainly depends on the product ranging between 5 per cent to 15 per cent. Google also said that it will let sellers list their products through their inventory data, presented on other e-commerce platforms to Google’s service. It will also help sellers to create online stores, for payment processing and order management and for that company is partnering with PayPal and Shopify.
Goggle Shopping is only launched in the US right now, but the company said it is looking forward to introducing it in the international markets by later this year and in the upcoming year. India which is considered to be Amazon’s second-largest market after the US although Google Shopping isn’t available it will try to bring its services soon in India. Many retailers use their products to drive more traffic on their website to sell their products and avoid paying commission to the other platforms where they will be charged for selling their products.
Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the use of e-commerce has increased worldwide. Reports show that the emerging e-commerce market is expected to cross the 45% of market coverage, for countries like India.
Amazon is the dominant player in the e-commerce business, but as per the reports, the total addressable market will grow, as more users will tend to buy products online. Google gets an opportunity to take advantage by promoting the “Buy on Google” platform, as it had already huge traffic for searches on product comparisons, reviews, and other specifications, which could be utilized.
