On Thursday, GMR Infrastructure said that its GVPGL power plant at Vemagiri in Andhra Pradesh has commenced operations under government’s scheme for utilisation of gas based power plants.
The firm said in a BSE filing that “GMR Vemagiri Power Generation Limited (GVPGL) at Vemagiri successfully commenced its operation from August 12, 2015 under ‘Scheme for Utilisation of Stranded Gas based power plants’ as launched by Government of India (GoI) in the month of March, 2015.”
It further said that the “Current operations will continue up to September 30, thereafter GoI will call for a fresh round of bidding. The scheme envisages government subsidies from the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) through a transparent ebid process.”
