Facebook has unveiled a new corporate logo almost 15 years after it launched its eponymous social media networking website. In the new logo, Facebook written in capital letters is different from that of its social media app Facebook which will retain its white and blue branding.
The Facebook logo will appear on its family of apps informing users about the ownership. The social media company owns several platforms, including photo-sharing app such as Instagram, messaging app WhatsApp, social media networking platform Facebook and its chatting app Messenger.
Globally, Facebook boasts of some 2.8 billion users. The company clocked $17.6 billion in revenue during the quarter ended in September.
“Today, we are updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook. We are introducing a new company logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its branding. The new branding was designed for clarity, and uses custom typography and capitalization to create a visual distinction between the company and app,” said Antonio Lucio, chief marketing officer Facebook in a blog post.
