Companies are preferring the non-convertible debentures mode for fund raising, DLF and Jet Airways have also lined up plans to raise over 17,000 crore through this route.

Other companies that are considering the NCD way includes HDFC, ABB India, Ceat, Future Corporate Resources and SRF.

Together, these companies are estimated to raise more than Rs 17,000 crore.

Moreover, some of these companies have already got the approval from their respective boards of directors and shareholders for fund raising plans.

Most of the funds would be used for meeting business needs, expansion plans and other general corporate purposes.
