Coal India‘s 66 projects have been facing delays on account of reasons that includes land acquisition problem as well as rehabilitation and resettlement issues.
The PSU has been eyeing one billion tonnes of coal output by 2020.
An official has said that “Out of the 123 coal mining projects (of Coal India) costing Rs 20 crore and above, 57 projects are running on schedule and 66 are delayed.”
He has said further that out of the 66 projects facing delays, 34 coal mining projects are running behind the schedule on account of delay in obtaining forestry clearance, and 17 are on account of delay in acquisition of land and associated R&R issues.
