The Competition Commission of India has approved the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular which is going to create the largest telecom operator of the country.
According to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co, the regulator has “unconditionally” approved the merger of the telecommunications businesses of Vodafone India and its wholly owned subsidiary Vodafone Mobile Services, with Idea Cellular.
It has said in a statement that “The USD 23 billion transaction is the largest transaction by value in the history of Indian M&A.”
