Amazon Pumps Rs 2,310 Crore in Indian Unit

Amazon Seller Services India unit has received Rs 2,310 crore from its US-based e-commerce parent company Amazon. The investment has been made through Amazon Corporate Holdings Pvt. Ltd. and Amazon.com, which was approved in the meeting by The Board of Amazon Seller Services on 25 June.

Jeff Bezos, the Founder, CEO, and President of the multi-national technology company Amazon said his $1 billion investment made in India this year in January will help small and medium-sized online businesses as they were affected by the protests of traders and government regulators.Amazon’s most important market after the US in India and therefore Amazon was committed to investing $5.5 billion previously, about Rs 355 crore was infused into Amazon Data Services India before.

Amazon is trying to expand in India by partnering more with sellers of small business owners, manufacturer, retailers and suppliers dealing in electronics, apparels, toys, furniture, grocery, and many more segments. Increasing the seller support ecosystem will ensure the continuity as Amazon is competing against Flipkart and others. According to Laws in India, foreign e-commerce companies have to operate as a market place by connecting buyers and sellers online.

Amazon is aggressively investing in India in expanding Infrastructure and enhancing the experience of customers and sellers by adding solutions. Although it is necessary to fund other entities of Amazon in India with unlocking of businesses, online businesses will be gaining momentum as customers will avoid being in contact with people.
