Airtel owns 50.33 percent in Bharti Infratel and Nettle Infrastructure owns 3.18 percent stakes in the same entity. Airtel is planning to transfer the stake, which is dated to be completed on or after 18 March. Airtel and Nettle Infrastructure will now own 18.33 percent and 35.18 percent respectively, the company said in an exchange filing.
In October 2017, some global investors approached to Airtel for acquiring significant shares in Bharti Infratel,  and if Airtel approves their interests, this may result in such investors taking charge of Bharti Infratel. In a process to trim debt, Bharti Airtel also announced the sale of 20 percent stake in DTH wing Bharti Telemedia Ltd. to Warburg Pincus for 350 million dollars.
The fundraising will strengthen its balance sheet and give it the financial flexibility to grab future opportunities, hopes Bharti Airtel.
