Meta is adding a new Slack-like feature on Messenger, i.e. “@everyone”, which will notify all participants in a chat about a new message. When a user starts a message with @everyone, every people present in the chat will be told. “The feature is best for group reminders, spontaneous get-togethers or when you want to gather the crow to answer a time-sensitive question. This way, your message will not be missed,” the company said.

The company is also launching a “/silent” feature. If you type in “/silent” before sending a message in a group chat, the group members will not get any notification of your message. “You will be able to send those late-night messages without disturbing anyone, and your friends can read the message at their leisure,” the company added.
