Meta Platforms announced that its research team had made a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) supercomputer which they think is the fastest AI supercomputer globally. Meta said in a blog post that its latest AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) would help them develop better AI models that can learn hundreds of languages and analyse text, images and video together to decide if the content is harmful. “This research will not only help keep people safe on our services today but also in the future, as we build for the metaverse,” the company said in a blog post.
The social media giant changed its name in October 2021 to Meta Platforms to reflect its focus on the metaverse, which it believes will be the successor to the mobile internet. The metaverse refers to the idea of shared virtual environments which people can access via different devices and can work, play and socialise virtually.
