On 30 June, McDonald of India announced its all-women drive-thru restaurant in Ekta Nagar of Gujarat. Westlife Development is the franchise partner-operated new restaurant located in the vicinity of the Statue of Unity.
For this event, twenty-eight women employees were trained and employed, which belongs from nearby villages, said to the franchise partner.
Westlife Development operates a total of forty-five McDonald’s restaurants in Gujarat. Westlife Development MD Smita Jatia said, “It is an honour for us to launch our maiden all-women employee-led drive-thru restaurant in Ekta Nagar – at the land of the prestigious Statue of Unity. We believe this initiative will enable us to strengthen our commitment towards diversity and inclusion and foster communities by bringing in more women from the region to the workforce.” The women crew helming this restaurant have been trained, per FSSAI guidelines, on all the necessary safety, hygiene and other restaurant procedures.
Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned Westlife Development subsidiary, operates McDonald India’s West and South Market.
