Shares of Maruti Suzuki India rose on March 1 after the company reported better sales figures for February.
The company sold 1,72,321 units during the month, compared with 1,64,056 units in February 2022, an increase of 5%.
Domestic sales (PV+LCV+OEM) rose to 1,55,114 units, compared to 1,40,035 units in the same period last year. As many as 4,291 vehicles were sold to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), compared with 2,428 in February 2022.
Exports took a hit, however, with the company shipping 17,207 vehicles for the month, compared with 24,021 a year earlier.
India’s largest automaker said in a release that the shortage of electronic components has had a minor impact on production, mainly for domestic models, and that the company has taken all possible measures to minimise the impact.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales (PV) rose to 1,47,467 units from 1,33,948 units year-on-year.
At 1:18 pm, Maruti Suzuki India quoted Rs 8,729.15 on the BSE, up Rs 103.35, or 1.2%.
