On Tuesday, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the ‘Fit India Cycling Drive’ at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
The ‘Fit India Cycling Drive’ was flagged off by Mandaviya at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Tuesday, with the presence of Raksha Khadse, Minister of State (Sports), MP Tejasvi Surya, and elite athletes including Simran Sharma, Nitu Ghanghas, and Preeti Pawar.
Mandaviya announced that the event, initially called ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays,’ will now take place on Sundays and be named ‘Sundays on Cycle’ for the convenience of cycling enthusiasts.
The Sunday cycling ride will include doctors, journalists, teachers, corporate professionals, and youth across the country, aiming to promote cycling as a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transport.
The event was held simultaneously in over 1,000 locations across India, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Fit India movement, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, MY Bharat, and various sports authorities.
More than 50,000 people participated in the cycling events held across Sports Authority of India regional centres, National Centres of Excellence, and Khelo India centres nationwide.
