Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd on Thursday had reported a 16 per cent decline on a year-on-year basis in its domestic vehicle sales at 34,351 units in September, due to the sharp fall in the demand of three-wheelers, and Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MHCVs).
The company said that it has only sold 587 units of its three-wheelers in September compared to 7,487 units in the year-ago period. During September, MHCVs’ sales stood at 153 units against 408 units in the previous year period. The company’s domestic tractor sales have a growth of 18 per cent YoY. The wholesales of 42,361 tractors were reported last month by M&M.
It also noted an increase in its overall commercial vehicle (CV) dispatches to18,907 units in September and growth in its passenger vehicle (PV) of 4 per cent at 14,857 units. Within PV, the company reported a 6 per cent growth at 14,663 units from its utility vehicle (UV) category. While seen a sharp fall in the volumes of cars to 194 units in September from 475 units in a year-ago period.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the volumes were driven by light commercial vehicles (LCVs) with a gross vehicle weight of less than 3.5 tons. M&M has sold 18576 units of these vehicles in September, 3 per cent growth YoY.
