LG Electronics, along with GS Energy and GS Neotek, acquired AppleMango Co, a South Korean electric vehicle (EV) charger solutions provider, when the Indian government is focusing on growing India’s EV ecosystem amid surging global demand.
The company said in a June 27 statement that the acquisition would help LG’s electric vehicle charging solutions business grow and capitalise on the growing demand for electric vehicles. The company added that the new acquisition would help LG combine AppleMango’s charger development technology with its existing EV charge management system.
Founded in 2019, AppleMango has developed an ultra-thin fast charger for charging electric vehicles. LG Electronics said in a statement: In addition to the company’s market-leading charging technology, LG Electronics will acquire the necessary operational infrastructure from GS Energy and GS Neotek, which have extensive experience operating electric vehicle charging stations.
With this move, LG plans to create fully-functional electric vehicle charging stations. The company also said it would customise charging stations for private homes, shopping malls, hotels and public institutions. Along these lines, LG plans to build an EV charger production line at LG Digital Park in South Korea this year.
Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president of LG Electronics Business Solutions, said: “The electric vehicle charging market is expected to grow rapidly due to the surge in demand for green vehicles.
