Legendary actor Dilip Kumar died at the age of 98 on Wednesday after a long illness in Mumbai. Dilip Kumar took his last breath at 7.30 am in Mumbai’s Khar Hinduja Hospital.
A family friend of Dilip Kumar, Faisal Farooqui, informed his fans of the shocking news and tweeted from the actor’s official Twitter handle, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God, and to him, we return. – Faisal Farooqui.” Dilip Kumar to be buried at Juhu Qabrastan at 5 pm today. The news was shared on the official Twitter handle of the actor, “Burial today at 5:00 pm Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai (sic),” the tweet read.

Dilip Kumar was hospitalised twice in June. He was rushed to the hospital on June 6, when he had some breathing issues. After being diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and getting the proper treatment done, Dilip Kumar was discharged on June 11. However, he started facing similar breathing issues on June 30 and was again hospitalised.
The legendary actor played memorable roles in several classic Hindi movies in the late 1950s and 1960s. Some of these films were Mughal-E-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ganga Jumna, Ram Aur Shyam. Dilip Kumar was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
