At the launch of MUDRA Bank the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said that the bill would create jobs for 300 million landless workers.
“Under the Land Acquisition Bill we are bringing the industrial corridors which would be set up in the country, those backward people, the 300 million landless people would get employment opportunities,” he said.
The bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha and will be taken up by the Rajya Sabha as and when it reconvenes.
Jaitely has also mentioned that the next phase of the programme would be to provide healthcare schemes.
“We are working on providing the poor people benefits of healthcare schemes (under Jan-Dhan) in the next phase,” Jaitely said.
He also pointed out that, “About 20 per cent of the country’s population is self employed or working in micro and small businesses. But there is no institutional arrangement for them for finance”.
