Addressing the gathering at the 25th Bengaluru Tech Summit, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday announced that Karnataka will get six new hi-tech cities in districts and a new startup park near the Bengaluru airport.
In six months, planned high-tech cities will be built in Hubbali, Dharwad, Mysore, Mangalore, central Karnataka and near Bangalore. Bommai added that these projects would promote ideas of science, technology and innovation and help people across the state to contribute to the development of Karnataka.
“The decision to set up a startup park and tech city was made after realising the enthusiasm and scope for developing entrepreneurial ideas in Bengaluru,” he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the internet is growing faster in rural areas than in urban areas.
In Karnataka, Bommai revealed more details about the venture park, saying, “Natural resources around us are decreasing at an alarming rate every year. The development comes at the expense of nature and natural resources. Therefore, I urge the tech community to develop green innovations, ideas and technologies so we can preserve resources for the future.”
