JSW Energy, on 15 January, announced the commissioning of its 350 megawatt unit at its Ind-Barath thermal power plant in Odisha.
In its filing, the company said, “JSW Energy has successfully commissioned unit-1 350 MW at Ind-Barath 700 MW (2×350 MW) thermal power plant in Odisha.”
Following the commissioning, the company now has an operational capacity of 7,189 megawatts. The unit will help the company diversify its fuel mix, geographical spread and offtake arrangements.
The INd-Barath plant was acquired by them under the NCLT proceedings in December 2022 against the resolution plan submitted under the insolvency law in 2019.
The company added that they had set a target to reach 20-gigawatt generation capacity with 40-gigawatt hours of energy storage capacity by 2023. The company currently has a total locked-in capacity of 9.8 gigawatts and is well-placed to achieve its near-term target of 10 gigawatts by 2025.
The company currently has a locked-in energy storage capacity of 3.4-gigawatt hours by means of a battery energy storage system and a hydro-pumped storage system.
