Ahead of the 2nd anniversary of Article 370, which gave exclusive status to Jammu and Kashmir, the Union government has released an alert and asked security forces in the region to be careful.

The general guidelines issued before the Independence Day celebrations and cites intelligence reports recommend that protesters may target temples in J&K and can use drones to drop improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at crowded places.

Last month, IEDs were dropped inside the Indian Air Force base in Jammu, after which a security audit of sensitive installations near the border was checked. More than 300 drones and unidentified flying objects have been seen on the sharp border with Pakistan since the abrogation of Article 370, central security agencies have said. The Union government had revoked Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and divided the state into two Union Territories.
