Mobile phone plans from daily usage at Rs499 have begun being offered by Reliance Jio, which is available on 22 flights through global routes. Jio is now the second Indian telecom company to incorporate in-flight service, partnering with airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Euro Wings, Lufthansa, Malindo Air, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and Alitalia.
Tata group firm Nelco has commenced provision of in-flight mobile services in Vistara airlines on the London route.
Travel destinations from India to overseas now have three mobile service packs at Rs499, Rs699 and Rs999 with 1-day validity, as declared by the company. While all plans include 100 minutes of outgoing voice calls and 100 SMS, the Rs 499 plan gives 250 megabytes (MB) of mobile data, Rs 699 gives 500 MB, and Rs 999 plan comes with 1 GB of data.
SMS is free, but incoming calls won’t be permitted by any of the plans, states information on the Jio website. First-time users of the in-flight mobile services will require activating the plans on Jio network, and international roaming services won’t work on JioPhone and Jio’s wifi device, states information provided on the website.
