India’s annual wholesale price inflation (WPI) eased in January 2018, to 2.84%, mainly due to soft increase in food and fuel prices.
Annual wholesale price inflation for December 2017, was at 3.58% and in November 2017, it was at 3.93%. The CSO data reported that index of primary articles was at 2.37% this month, which is less from 2.9% to 131.7 (provisional) of the previous month.
Furthermore, under primary articles, Food Articles group increased to 3% this month, while manufacturing product witnessed growth of 2.78% in January. Also, WPI for fuel, power and lightning prices increased to 4.08% during the month.
