IRCTC to launch Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Today

The IRCTC tourist train will leave New Delhi today on the Sri Ramayana Yatra Circuit as part of the Indian Railways Bharat Gaurav project. The train will originate from the Safdarjung railway station and will cover a distance of about 8,000 km between India and Nepal on the Shri Ramayana Yatra circuit. IRCTC will be the first agency in India to connect the two countries by tourist train. The duration will be 18 days.


The journey will cost about Rs 65,000 per person. It will cover states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.


The train will run on the Ramayana Circuit marked under the “Swadesh Darshan” project, which covers prominent places associated with the life of Lord Rama. The visit will include the Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur, Nepal.
According to the IRCTC, the 600-capacity train will cover significant cities, including Ayodhya, Buxer, Janakpur, Sitamarhi, Kashi, and Prayagraj Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi, Rameshwaram, Kanchipuram and Bhadrachalam.


Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is the central government’s initiative to promote domestic tourism “Dekho Apna Desh”.
The first stop of the proposed Bharat Gaurav tourist train is at Ayodhya. Also, IRCTC will provide all tourists with a mask, hand gloves and a safety kit, including a hand sanitiser.


The IRCTC said that a COVID-19 full vaccination certificate is mandatory for visiting temples and monuments. “All passengers must carry a hard copy of the vaccination certificate on the phone while travelling,” it said.
