In a letter written to TechCrunch, Instagram has said that it is rolling out a feature for users to upload long uninterrupted stories. As per media reports, the company tested longer segments of up to 60 seconds with select users.
Reportedly, Instagram is now introducing this feature to users globally. According to the company, users can play and create Stories continuously for up to 60 seconds. Earlier, video clips were used to break into segments.
On this occasion, Meta spokesperson said that Instagram is always working on ways to improve the Stories experience. The platform has been focusing on improving the features of its video products.
Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri held that the future platform would become more video focussed. However, it would continue to support photos at the same time.
In July, the company announced that video posts with fewer than 15 minutes would be shared as reels. Earlier, it added support for longer Instagram Reels of up to 90 seconds from the previous 60-second limit.
Founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in 2010, Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social networking service. The app allows users to upload media that can be edited with filters and organised by hashtags and geographical tagging. In 2012, Facebook acquired approximately USD1 billion in cash and stock.
