On Monday, the Army Design Bureau (ADB) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Drone Federation of India (DFI) to develop high-impact drones for Indian soldiers.
DFI is an industry body whose members include Asteria Aerospace, Quidich Innovation Labs, AutoMicroUAS, Aarav Unmanned Systems and Indrones.
According to a statement, as part of the collaboration, DFI and ADB will launch an event titled “Him-Drone-a-thon for the Indian Army”, where the development of drone-based solutions to support Indian Army operations in the Himalayan terrain.
“ADB will provide guidance and allow field trips to selected participants to educate Indian industry on real-world operational scenarios,” it noted.
Under the MoU, DFI and ADB will collaborate on roadmap planning, research, testing, manufacturing and adoption of drones, counter-drones and related technologies that the Indian Army will use in its operations.
“This collaboration between DFI and ADB will establish new drone use cases and develop high-impact drone solutions for Indian Army soldiers through active industry-academia-user engagement,” President, Drone Federation of India Smit Shah said.
