India will have its first hypersonic missile within five to six years, according to BrahMos Aerospace, an Indo-Russian defence joint venture. BrahMos Aerospace launched its “Silver Jubilee” celebrations (2022-2023) on June 13, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, to commemorate one of India’s most successful and cutting-edge military cooperation projects. “BrahMos Aerospace can build hypersonic missiles. In five to six years, we will be able to have BrahMos Aerospace’s first hypersonic missile,” BrahMos Aerospace CEO Officer and General Manager Atul Rane said. Rane spoke at a ceremony marking the start of India’s “Silver Jubilee” celebrations (1998-2023), which will commemorate one of the country’s most successful and cutting-edge military partnership programs that spawned the world’s The best, fastest, most powerful modern precision strike weapon, Brahmos.
The “Jubilee” celebrations will begin on June 12, commemorating the 21 golden years since the invincible BrahMos’ first supersonic launch, and will end on February 12, 2023, “BrahMos Rising Day”.
As part of the celebrations, several key events, meetings and national-level competitions are planned, including gatherings of industry partners to recognise and highlight the invaluable contributions of BrahMos’ key industry partners as part of the missile manufacturing industry ecosystem in the country.
In addition, a user-interactive session will be held to recognise the contribution and professionalism of the Indian Armed Forces in operating the world’s best supersonic cruise missile system.
A national competition for cutting-edge technologies and their applications in the field of missiles and aerospace will be held to guide and cultivate young talents in the field of missile technology.
The grand celebration will culminate in BrahMos Rising Day on February 12, 2023, with major events.
On January 28, BrahMos Aerospace signed a historic contract with the Republic of the Philippines to provide the Philippine Navy with shore-based anti-ship BrahMos systems.
