On a year-on-year (YoY), car sales jumped 92 per cent. “September has been generally good for the industry, as the passenger vehicle segment has recorded the highest ever sales in H1, and the commercial vehicle segment has started showing trends of better market demand. Off-take of entry-level two-wheelers and entry-level passenger vehicles have been of concern, especially as the rural demand has not picked up,” said Rajesh Menon, Director General Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures.
On 9 September, passenger vehicle sales in India witnessed a revival after setting an all-time high benchmark of selling 3,55,946 units. In September, the numbers are up by 26 per cent as compared with August 2022, recorded a sale of 2,81,210 units.
Factors leading to these record wholesale figures are a bunch of reasons, such as increased vehicle production, increase in supplies to dealers, a strong customer demand due to the festive season and progress in the semiconductor supply chain.
For September 2022, while many manufacturers have revealed their sales figures, five carmakers, Force Motors, FCA India, Isuzu Motor India and Renault, are yet to release their numbers, and they account for the balance of 11,124 units.
