At the invitation of Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hammud Albusaidi who is the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, arrived in India on an official visit to discuss different sectors. During the delegation talks on Wednesday, both sides repeated their commitment to a closer strategic partnership between India and Oman. Both countries decided to focus on the aerospace, mining, marine and science and technology sectors to upgrade their relations.
The two ministers thoroughly reviewed the broader multilateral India-Oman relationship in different areas of cooperation like political, strategic, defence, economy, energy, investment, space, mining, science and technology, culture, consular and humanitarian cooperation.

βBoth sides are satisfied to continue the close communication at all levels, including telephonic conversations between PM Narendra Modi and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, frequent meetings and contacts between foreign ministers, Omanβs visit to India by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting, visit of the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman to India, Bilateral air force activities in India, Joint Maritime Committee meetings, etc.,β a joint statement stated.
The Ministers also welcomed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Military Cooperation and Maritime Issues between India and Oman. Both sides showed satisfaction with the progress of the military-to-military engagement, logistical support given by the Omani authorities and the different ongoing infrastructure projects. Both countries have also agreed to start exchanging white shipping information to boost maritime domain awareness.
