Global Swedish homeware retailer IKEA India, part of the Ingka Group, said on May 31 that it would open a store in Bangalore, Long Beach, on June 22, 2022. The mega-store will be connected to Nagasandra metro station, supporting faster and more comfortable commuting, making the store accessible to many in Bengaluru.

The countdown begins with launching unique IKEA wordmark installations in stores as part of the brand’s visual identity. The 12.2 acres, 460,000 square-foot IKEA Nagasandra store will offer more than 7,000 affordable, high-quality, sustainable and well-designed IKEA products and inspiring home kits to inject creativity into your home. The store will also feature “Småland”, one of the largest children’s play areas, a 1,000-seater restaurant, and a bistro serving a combination of Swedish and Indian cuisine.

Stores will offer remote planning, personal shopping, and click and collect services to provide a healthy shopping experience. IKEA started its e-commerce journey in Bengaluru in 2021 and launched a shopping website and app in 2021. IKEA continues its expansion journey in India with an omnichannel approach, focusing on providing consumers across India with more online and online choice stores.

The Ingka Group is IKEA’s largest franchisee, operating 465 IKEA stores, stores and planning studios, and 47 Ingka Centre meeting spaces in 32 countries. Ingka’s FY21 revenue was €39.8 billion.

The company has online operations in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Gujarat and Bangalore. Two large IKEA stores opened in Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai. The brand also opened a city-centre store in Mumbai in December 2021, while another is due to open in 2022.
