Indian Hotel Company Ltd (IHCL), on 14 September, signed a Taj Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany, under the operating lease arrangement.
The company said in its exchange filing that the Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof Frankfurt in Germany will go under renovation and refurbishment and will re-open in 2025.
The redesign will feature modern accents while preserving the architectural integrity of the historic structure.
The Grandhotel Hessischer Hof, which features 117 rooms, the hotel was acquired by Peakside Capital Advisors AG in 2022; it was previously a 5-star establishment with 121 rooms and suites for an undisclosed sum.
The Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof has 134 rooms and is centrally located near the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds, which is one of the largest conventions and meeting spaces in Germany.
Puneet Chhatwal, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, said, “This is a milestone in our journey as we expand our footprint in key international gateway cities. Frankfurt is one of Europe’s most dynamic destinations. We are proud to gain a foothold in such an iconic structure.”
In September, IHCL announced the opening of WOW Crest, an IHCL SeleQtions hotel in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, that has 125 keys. The hotel is located close to the airport, which is the city’s industrial hub.
