Recently leaked document suggests that Hyundai Motor Company has trademarked the name Alcazar in India. The document reveals that the name has been trademarked for a new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and given the fact that the only new Hyundai SUV currently expected to make its debut is the 7-seated version of the Creta, Alcazar could be its official name. The upcoming 7-seater version of the Hyundai Creta is currently undergoing testing in South Korea, and based on the spy photos, it’s nearing production.
Engine setup of the 7-seater Hyundai Creta (Hyundai Alcazar) is likely to be similar to the 5-seater model. That said, it might come with three powertrain options – 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel (113bhp/250Nm), 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol (113bhp/114Nm) and 1.4L GDi turbo petrol (138bhp/242Nm). While the 1.5L petrol Creta can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed iVT automatic gearbox, the 1.5L diesel model is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox option. A 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox is reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.
