Hyundai has launched the brand new third generation of its one of the most famous hatchback, Santro in India. The hatchback re-entry will be available in a petrol engine with either a manual or AMT gearbox and a CNG option, which will only come with a manual gearbox.
The Price range of the Manual transmission will start from Rs. 3.89 Lakh going up to Rs. 5.45 Lakh, whereas AMT gearbox will cost between Rs. 5.18 Lakh to Rs. 5.46 Lakh. The Hyundai Santro will be powered by a 1.1-litre engine making 69 bhp max and 99 Nm of peak torque in petrol guise meanwhile 59 bhp of peak power and 84 Nm of peak torque in CNG form.
The Santro will also offer first in class features such as rear AC vents, a big 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and best in class leg space. The all-new 2018 Hyundai Santro will be available to the customer in five variants; D-Lite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.
Hyundai, which generates about 20% of its total sales from rural and semi-urban areas stated that the new Santro will be pushed more in the semi-urban and rural markets as the company would try to attract more first-time car buyers.
Y.K. Koo, managing director, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said “For Santro, the priority market is rural and the first-time buyers, and whatever the number of customers we get from the metro cities will be additional.
“This is the right product to attract the rural as well as the semi-urban markets as the Santro has the lowest cost of maintenance among its competitors,” he added.
Santro, which was discontinued in 2014 and was replaced by Hyundai Eon, will be competing against the names of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Tata Tiago.
