Hero MotoCorp is preparing an electric two-wheeler vehicle to launch by 2022. Hero will become the 3rd company from India to launch EVs after Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company. “The upcoming decade is of electric vehicles (EVs), and we are working to make our own EVs at diverse levels. We are also working on Hero Hatch, an incubation centre which works like a start-up,” Pawan Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director, Hero MotoCorp, said.
Hero MotoCorp is working on EVs at the technology centres of Jaipur and Munich. The company has also joined hands with Taiwan’s start-up Gogoro for battery swapping technology. The two-wheeler company intends to make its products green by full recycling its vehicles.
“We will move to 100 per cent product recyclability with carbon-neutral dealerships by 2030. We will have ten or more partnerships forming a more sustainable India. We will launch EVs in 20 global markets, and 15 per cent of our total volumes will come from our global sales by 2025,” Munjal added.
