HCL Tech Completes Acquisition of Paris-based Zeenea

Zeenea will help HCL strengthen its data and analytics business, Actian.

HCL Tech announced late Thursday that it has completed the acquisition of Paris-based software company Zeenea SAS for $26.5 million (23.9 million euros), according to a BSE filing.

This is HCLTech’s second acquisition in the first half of the current fiscal year. In May, the company announced its plan to acquire assets of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise’s Communications Technology Group for $225 million (about Rs 1,874 crore).

In August 2024, the company declared that it was going to buy Zeenea. Specialised in data catalogue and governance solutions, Zeenea will help HCL strengthen its data and analytics business, Actian.

HCL Software accounts for about 10% of HCL Tech’s total revenue and has the highest margins, at 20.5%, during the first quarter of this fiscal year. The company operates in three business segments: HCL Software, Engineering and Research and Development, and IT and Business Services.

Recently, the State Bank of India selected HCL Software to automate its digital marketing program. The bank will use the HCL Unica martech platform to enhance its customer interaction framework, delivering hyper-personalised experiences while ensuring data privacy.

So far, in 2024, the shares of HCL Tech have risen by almost 22%. On 13th September, the stock ended the day flat, settling at Rs 1,809.25 on the NSE.
