The GST Council has lowered tax rates on more than 200 items in its 23rd Council meet and the revised rates have come into effect from today, November 15.
The rate cut has brought over 178 items to a lower tax slab from 28% slab. Only 50 items are now left in the highest tax slab of 28%. So,customers will now have some relief in their day to day shopping.
Goods like liquid soaps, cosmetic, chewing gums and deodorants have been brought down from 28% tax slab to 18% slab.
Further tax rates on products like detergents, razors, chocolates, grooming products and after shave products have also come down . Medical Grade oxygen, diabetic food and spectacles frame came down to 12% tax slab from 18%.
Dried vegetables, frozen fish, sweet potatoes came down to 0% from 5% slab. Moreover, the Council decided to lower the rate on AC and non-AC restaurants to flat 5% from the current 18% slab.
