GST Collections Rose 15% to Rs 1.49 lakh Crore in December 2022

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose by 15% to Rs 1.49 lakh crore in December 2022, demonstrating enhanced manufacturing output with consumer demand, including better amenability.


This is the 10th consecutive month, and the proceeds have continued above the Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark. The November collection was Rs 1.46 lakh crore.

“The gross GST revenue of December 2022 is Rs 1,49,507 crore, wherein CGST worth Rs 26,711 crore, SGST Rs 33,357 crore, IGST is Rs 78,434 crore (plus Rs 40,263 crore collected on imports) and Cess is Rs 11,005 crore (with Rs 850 crore collected on imported goods),” the ministry mentioned.


The December 2022 revenues are 15% higher than the GST collection in December 2021, close to Rs 1.30 lakh crore.
During the month, the revenues from imported goods were 8% higher, and the domestic transaction revenues (plus imported services) were 18% more than those from these sources in 2021. In November 2022, 7.9 crore e-way bills were created, knowingly higher than the 7.6 crore e-way bills issued in October 2022.


Deloitte India Partner MS Mani stated, “An 18% rise in the GST revenues from national transactions saw an increase in e-way bill issuance along with the rise in GST collections by key constructer and overriding states, would be revealing of a continual manufacturing and consumption cycle in recent months”.


GST revenues moved a record of Rs 1.68 lakh crore in April. May collection estimated Rs 1.41 lakh crore, June (Rs 1.45 lakh crore), July (Rs 1.49 lakh crore), August (Rs 1.44 lakh crore), September (Rs 1.48 lakh crore), October (Rs 1.52 lakh crore), November (Rs 1.46 lakh crore) and December (Rs 1.49 lakh crore).
