The direction of the centre for J&K will give freedom to the residents from poverty and unemployment, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said. The minister spoke after placing the foundation stone of 25 national highway projects with an investment of Rs 11,721 crore. These projects are essential for the fast movement of defence forces with the agricultural, industrial and socio-economic development of the district. They will provide all-weather connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition to these projects, Gadkari guaranteed projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore for J&K in the next two years. He also admitted the demands of many road plans. “PM Modi-led administration has pledged for the overall development of J&K and are working according to it. The road map for J&K is aimed at giving freedom to the people from poverty and providing jobs,” he said.

After the fulfilment of currently going road projects, Jammu and Srinagar will get three corridors that are in different stages of development. “The Srinagar-Jammu national highway will be completed in the next two years and the travel journey will be decreased to just 4 hours,” he added.
