Govt Restricts Maida and Semolina Exports from August 14

To curb price increases, the government imposed restrictions on the shipment of maida, semolina and all wheat flour (atta) from August 8 to August 14.

Exporters of these commodities now need approval from the Interministerial Committee for Wheat Exports.
According to the notice, the necessary manner regarding the quality of these items will be notified separately. The provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy regarding transitional arrangements do not apply to this notice.

India banned wheat exports in May after the crop suffered a heatwave, but domestic prices rose to record highs. However, international prices are still much higher than the domestic market, discouraging traders from sourcing from abroad.
