The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has partnered with NASSCOM to create an online platform to upskill IT professionals to increase their employability.
“The government will release Rs 436 crores for this purpose. The government along with NASSCOM will develop a programme for training 4 lakh professionals in higher digital skilling over the next 3 years,” IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The idea behind the exercise is to train existing IT professionals in 10 emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, among others.
The programme is called Future Skills PRIME (Programme for Reskilling Upskilling of IT Manpower for Employability). The training modules of top IT companies will be available on the platform. Courses will be available starting Rs 6000. NASSCOM will provide a certificate to those who complete the course.
“The portal will also provide a diagnostic for learner’s preference and through the programme, we aim to create India Digital Talent Stack,” Prasad said.
