Government Plans Deep-Sea Mission with Human Crew by Early 2026: Jitendra Singh

The government plans a deep-sea mission to send a human underwater.

The government is planning a deep-sea mission to send a human underwater, likely aligning with the human space mission in early 2026, Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced on Thursday.

The government plans a deep-sea mission to send a human underwater, coinciding with India’s human space mission in early 2026, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

Singh highlighted the unique coincidence of “one Indian in space and one in the deep sea,” marking a significant milestone for India.

Oceanic exploration is becoming central to India’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ with sustainable development of the 7,500-km coastline and marine resources being a key focus.

The government is building an ecosystem to support marine exploration and conservation, with INCOIS playing a vital role in providing global services and information.

Recalling the 2004 Tsunami, Singh emphasized lessons learned, which led to the establishment of institutions like INCOIS to safeguard lives and livelihoods.

Under the Samudrayaan Mission, India aims to send three individuals 6,000 meters below sea level for exploration, further advancing its marine science capabilities.
