Following the reports of fake IT job rackets operating from Thailand and Myanmar today, the Centre has issued an advisory on lucrative job offers to lure Indian youths for the posts of ‘Digital Sales and Marketing Executives in Thailand by perfidious IT firms involved in cryptocurrencies and call-centre scam.
A few days ago, Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), raised the following issue asking Indian nationals to exercise extreme caution before taking up jobs in Thailand, as a few dozen Indians are illicitly escorted into Myanmar as part of the employment racket.
The official advisory also stated that the targeted audience is IT-skilled youths deceived in the name of lucrative data entry jobs in Thailand through social media and Dubai and India-based agents. Reportedly the victims are escorted across the border illegally, mainly into the regions of Myanmar, and held captive to work under harsh conditions.
The government urged Indian nationals not to get involved in fake overseas job offers that are being floated through social media platforms and advised Indian citizens to verify the credentials of foreign employers before travelling on a visit visa for employment purposes.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Myanmar’s Yangon released an advisory. It had cautioned about the companies engaged in digital scamming activities located in remote eastern border areas of Myanmar.

Recently the Indian embassy in Myanmar rescued more than 30 Indians out of 60 who were trapped in Myanmar’s Myawaddy area.
