Google launched Veo 2, its new AI video generation model, shortly after OpenAI introduced its model, Sora, to the public.
The competition between Google and OpenAI is growing, with Google responding to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search by launching its own AI video generation model, Veo 2.
Veo 2 produces detailed and realistic videos, capturing real-world physics, human movements, and expressions, and allows users to specify genres, lenses, and cinematic effects.
The model can generate videos with up to 4K resolutions that last several minutes.
Veo 2 reduces errors in many video models, such as hallucinations of extra fingers or unexpected objects, providing more accurate outputs.
For safety, Veo 2 outputs include an invisible SynthID watermark to identify AI-generated content and reduce misinformation.
Access to Veo 2 is limited to Google Labs’ VideoFX, with new users able to join a waitlist for access.
Google plans to integrate Veo 2 with YouTube Shorts and other products in 2025, showing its focus on AI-driven content creation.
